The identification of weeds on a bowling green is not easy and comes with experience.
Much of the difficulty in identifying weeds is due to the fact there are few adequate photographs of weeds found on the green. Most available photographs are taken in environments outside that of a bowling green and show more mature specimens.
It is also worth noting that there are only a few weeds that are able to tolerate the cutting regimes adopted on bowling green’s.
Most weeds that are found on a bowling green emanate from the banks and when spraying, Green keepers should ensure that the banks and surrounds are also sprayed.
In order to assist Green keepers a series of weed fact sheets are being produced and the latest can be found in our resources section.
